SUMMARY:Online Satsang with Jeff Carr May 25th
DESCRIPTION:Jeffrey Carr\, Senior AMS Teacher\n \nSatsang & Reading from ‘Making Spiritual Progress’\nby Gururaj Ananda Yogi\n\n\nMonday\, May 25th\, 2020\n8 – 9 pm East Coast Time\n7 – 8 pm Midwest Time\n5 – 6 pm West Coast Time\n \nZoom Meeting ID: 894-4298-9866\nExcerpt from ‘Making Spiritual Progress’ \nGururaj: Is it necessary for you to judge your (spiritual) progress? (On) the spiritual path\, you do not have signposts which can be perceived by your five senses: seeing\, hearing touching\, smelling\, tasting\, and all that. And (in any case\,) the moment you start analyzing your progress\, your progress stops\, because you are bringing the mind into action. The progress on the spiritual path is the progress to peace\, which is devoid of all mental ramifications and logic. Those are meanderings which only the mind can produce. The spirit is so still and peaceful that it does not need to show you the signs of your progress. \nSo\, you might not be able to see the progress yourself. But others around you will be able to notice it. (They might say) that he or she is a different person; that something has changed in her. You will find people remarking how wonderful you are! For example\, for those of you who are sincere meditators\, I can see clearly on your faces the serenity that’s produced by (meditation). I can see (it in) the body language of how you move and in the relaxed way you sit. For example\, five years ago you might have moved in a certain way\, and after five years of meditation\, you’re moving in a totally different way. There is far more grace in your movement. Your eyes have that added sparkle. Your smile will not only be only the pulling of the lips\, but your eyes will be smiling as well as your lips. You might not notice the twinkle which is there\, but the others will notice it. (They will say\,) “she has such a twinkle in her smile”. \nFor example\, when I came here to England last year\, I was very ill after having had a long trip and I was totally fatigued. But everyone said\, as you English people say\, “Gore Blimey! You look ten years younger!” I don’t notice it\, but you notice it. Do you see? The eyes cannot see themselves\, and yet you do feel something. You do feel that there is progressively greater and greater stability within you. The world is going to remain the same. Be sure of that. You can’t change the world. There (has always) been murder\, pillage\, rape and all kinds of things. You can read it in the Bible and even in scriptures before the Bible\, before the time of Jesus. The world is not any better today than it was thousands of years ago. So\, do not be concerned about the world; you can’t change the world. So many Christs and so many Buddhas and Krishnas and Gururajs have come and gone- but they can’t reform the whole world. It’s not possible. But you can reform individuals. \n(The Guru is like the gardener in the parables of Jesus). The gardener goes on planting his seeds\, as the scriptures say. Some (seeds) will fall on fertile ground and will grow; some on barren ground and so will not grow; and some (will fall) on the rocks for the birds of the air to eat. But the gardener does his duty. He carries on planting. The Guru can see more deeply into the heart\, the soul and into the mind of man\, just as the gardener can see how his flowers are growing. (The gardener can see how the) tomatoes are growing before she plucks them. But the tomato itself does not know how red or how ripe it is. (In the same way\,) human beings have a limited mind and so cannot see themselves until they reach the ultimate. When the ultimate goal of becoming totally self-realized is reached\, the test will be that you will feel the total universe merging into you and you will merge into the totality of the universe. Beyond that\, you will capture within yourself\, in your physical form\, the Personal God\, while you will also operate as the Impersonal God. So the person\, the Personal God\, the Impersonal God and the Primal Energy become all the same.\nlinklink to entire satsang \nHOW TO JOIN ONLINE \nFirst-time users: \nWe use the online conference program called Zoom. If you don’t have it\, it’s easy to use and free. Go to: zoom.us/download and download the option: “Zoom Client for Meetings”\nThen open your Zoom application\, enter your password if needed\, click on “join a meeting” and type the Meeting ID: 984-4298-9866\nIf you have already downloaded Zoom\, go to https://zoom.us/j/ and enter the Meeting ID\nOr phone in: \nOne tap mobile\n+16699006833\,\,984-4298-9866# US (San Jose)\n+19294362866\,\,984-4298-9866# US (New York)\nDial by your location\n +1 669 900 6833 US (San Jose)\n+1 929 436 2866 US (New York)\nor find your local number: https://us02web.zoom.us/u/kev9LVspCk\n Meeting ID: 984-4298-9866 \nWe will start the Zoom sessions 10 minutes before the start time so you can log on and be ready to go. \nOther tips: \nYou should come in muted as to not disturb the meeting. If not please click on the microphone icon on the bottom left to mute your mic. When muted it will have a red line through it. (Especially important if you join before the Host does.) \nTo speak\, just click on the mic icon again to activate your mic. \nIf you prefer to not be seen\, you can also click the video icon next to the mic icon on the bottom and disable your camera.\nTo ensure optimum sound\, close all other programs and internet on your computer once you’re in Zoom. Double check that your computer’s volume register is turned all the way up (for most computers)\, and same with the volume on the zoom screen. \nIf your internet connection is weak or variable and you can hook up to the router directly with an Ethernet cable; that would give you the best possible signal. \nHeadphones tend to provide better sound also and we get less feedback so if you have them please use them. \nWe can only have 25 logins at once and after that is reached you will be notified that the meeting is full.

SUMMARY:Online Satsang with Jeffrey Carr
DESCRIPTION:Jeffrey Carr\, Senior AMS Teacher\n \nSatsang & Reading from ‘Living in Non-Attachment’\nby Gururaj Ananda Yogi\n\n\nMonday\, February 24th\, 2020\n8 – 9 pm East Coast Time\n7 – 8 pm Midwest Time\n5 – 6 pm West Coast Time\n \nZoom Meeting ID: 674-987-433\nExcerpt from ‘Living in Non-Attachment’ \nGururaj: Attachment lies in your craving for the object of attachment. But you can be totally non-attached in admiration of the trees\, the leaves\, the flowers. To merge yourself into the leaf or the flower petal does not mean attachment\, but it means an identification where you have become the flower. You appreciate the beauty of the flower\, and not only appreciate the beauty of the flower\, but you become One with the flower.\nAs you proceed further and further\, the flower grows vaster and vaster\, as vast as the universe. And you become the universe. There becomes no question of attachment. Attachment\, to repeat again\, is based on the craving after or for the object. But when you become the object\, then there is no craving\, because you are the object. So\, you (also) have detachment – which is escaping. But nonattachment is total identification with the object. “I love my woman” does not mean that I am attached to my woman. In really loving my woman\, I become non-attached to the woman\, because she has become me. And when she becomes me\, the question of non-attachment disappears and the question of attachment also disappears.\nYou start off by becoming non-attached to the object. But as you proceed along\, the object becomes the subject. Then the question of non-attachment disappears. What I am telling you goes far beyond the Vedas and Vedanta and the Bible and Koran. In non-attachment to the object\, you make the object into the subject. When you know this\, the question of attachment\, non-attachment and detachment disappears entirely.\nThe Gita will tell you to be non-attached. But I tell you that there is no such thing as non-attachment. There is no such thing as non-attachment and also no such thing as attachment or detachment. So\, what is the final analysis? It is a total identification\, in which all these attachments and non-attachments will just fade away. Let me become the flower. And when I become the flower\, then how can I be non-attached or attached to the flower when I’m the flower myself? SUMMARY:Online Satsang with Jeffrey Carr
DESCRIPTION:Jeffrey Carr\, Senior AMS Teacher\n \nSatsang & Reading from:  ‘Which Came First?’ by Gururaj Ananda Yogi\n \n\n\nSaturday\, October 5th\, 2019\, 5:30 pm East Coast Time\n\n  \nTo be broadcast live on YouTube from the AMS – NY Chapter Fall Retreat \nat the new Ashram for Unfoldment in New York\n\n https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUUQwhAcF_I&feature=youtu.be\n\n\n  \nExcerpt from ‘Which Came First?’\n\n \n\nGururaj:  There is an age-old question that has never been answered: what came first\, the chicken or the egg? Now the argument has always been that if the egg was first\, then who laid the egg? And if the chicken was first\, then where did the egg come from to create the chicken? The answer is this\, that the egg came first and not the chicken. The reason is that through the entire process of evolution from when we had that Big Bang\, as you know of from the Big Bang theory\, the power and the energy that was generated made the eggs. And there was not only one egg that was made\, but as those energies shot out\, many eggs were created. This is because\, in the process of evolution\, there has to be a life force. A similar question might be\, who came first\, the man or the woman? They came simultaneously into being through the very same process.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nIn the egg there was life from the beginning. But the difference is that it was an unlaid egg. It created itself. In other words\, it was the (product of a) causeless cause\, like everything else in the universe. Right from the primal amoeba\, many forms of life started developing\, because there always has been life. If you want to put it this way\, there has never been a time\, since beginning-less time\, that life has not been. Life has always been ever existent. That theory about Adam and Eve—that God made Adam\, and then from his eleventh rib Eve was made—that is perhaps very symbolic\, but there’s no truth in it. Why relegate a woman to that lowly position of being made from a rib? All of life came about simultaneously\, first in the form of energy and then with that energy combining itself with other energies in the universe to form different combinations that in turn produce different products.\n \nSo\, how old is the egg? The egg is as old as the primal energy\, which is ageless. And in the development of the egg\, the egg hatched and so the chicken came about. And yet in the chicken there was a male and a female counterpart\, even in the primal egg. For example\, in a man or a woman\, there is some woman in a man\, and there is a man existing in the woman. But the man naturally being a man\, those qualities were more dominant; and in a woman\, her particular qualities were more dominant\, so that she became a woman. But always remember that the egg came first and not the chicken.\nIn everything we see around us\, we have life. Nothing exists without life\, for life itself is existence. There can never be death. Death is just but a transformation of your physical being\, that is returning to its original elements; water to water\, fire to fire and so on. The five basic elements that constitute the entire universe will go back into their original states. That is what the Eastern scriptures call the “night of Brahma”. The night of Brahma is when a total balance takes place\, and the active forces reach such a high level of vibration that it all seems just still. Just as a top spinning at a very high speed will seem still to you\, but it is still spinning. It is there.\n \nThe three qualities of sattva\, rajas and tamas will always be there. But all the conflicts in the universe around us\, or in ourselves\, are because those three elements are not in balance. Not being in perfect balance\, they war against each other\, which we know as conflicts within us. But this is necessary for evolution. The contraction and expansion are both equally necessary; one cannot exist without the other. In your egg\, you will find the white and you will find the yellow. In its own process within itself\, the yellow is influencing the white and the white is influencing the yellow. There is a very subtle motion that is forever there\, and everything else cannot exist at all without motion. Motion is that which makes the world go around. So\, if we accept motion\, which we have to accept\, we must accept the conflicts as well. It is only conflict that can produce motion\, and motion in turn produces conflict. It is like the egg producing the hen and then the hen producing the egg. It is a cycle\, which goes on and on and on. We find the egg still exists in the chicken\, the acorn exists in the oak tree\, and the entire oak tree exists in the acorn. If the tree did not exist in the acorn\, there would be no tree at all.\n \nThe goal of life is that we go back to the original source that we are. The Big Bang took place many millions and millions of years ago\, when everything was sucked up into the black hole\, so that it could not exude any light. And before the black hole there were white holes as well\, and they still exist. The universe itself also runs in cycles. It goes into a stage called “pralaya” (or dissolution) only to explode again. At this very moment\, there are thousands of stars even bigger than the sun that are exploding. And all the little bits that explode from a star create new worlds\, new solar systems\, new galaxies. It is always an on–going process. If it was not on– going\, then you could say the universe will be destroyed. But there is no destruction at all. If you reach the finest point of matter\, that is even finer than the atom itself\, it is there\, was there and forever will be there. Just so\, your egg and the chicken will also be there forever. (cont.)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nlink to entire satsang

DESCRIPTION:Jeffrey Carr\, Senior AMS Teacher\n\nGururaj Ananda Yogi\n\nSatsang & Reading from\n\n‘The Smile of Krishna’\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMonday\, September 16th\, 2019\n\n8 – 9 pm East Coast Time\n7 – 8 pm Midwest Time\n5 – 6 pm West Coast Time\n\n\nZOOM MEETING ID: 152 161 228\n \n\n\n\nExcerpt from ‘The Smile of Krishna’\n\nGururaj Ananda Yogi:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe smile of Krishna is rather more a theme for poetry than the subject for a talk. The smile of Krishna is the smile that smiles through the entire universe\, because his smile is the creation of the universe. Because Krishna or Christ smiles\, this universe\, as we know it\, is created. Now\, to me\, Christ or Krishna or Buddha means the same: I’m more interested in Krishna consciousness or Christ consciousness. And that very consciousness is a smile. For consciousness\, with its cognition of the universe\, cannot but help to smile. It’s a pity we haven’t got Jesus’ picture here. All the pictures you have seen of Jesus are all totally false\, just artist’s impressions. When I was a young lad I had visions of him\, and I used to see him totally clearly. And he never had that sad face with all the tears running down his cheeks. He was a cheerful person; therefore\, he taught: be of good cheer. If he was crying all the time\, like the pictures depict him\, he would not have taught ‘be of good cheer’.   So that is the Christ smile. That is the Krishna smile: to be of good cheer.\n \nAnd everything is cheerful if you know how to recognize the cheer. Cheer\, or the smile\, becomes distorted because of your mind. Your mind is that which distorts cheerfulness into cheerlessness. So\, if you look around you\, everything is smiling all the time. The flowers are smiling\, the plants are smiling\, this thing is smiling: everything just smiles. But that recognition of the smile of Krishna\, or the smile of life\, must come from you. You have to recognize it in order to know it. Have you really seen Krishna’s smile? Of course you have. Every time I smile at you that’s Krishna’s smile\, because I do not find any difference between his consciousness apart from mine. It’s just one consciousness. And I am smiling through his smile\, and he smiles through my smile. And yet\, if you should watch the smile carefully\, you would feel it bubbling over. For I never smile with my lips\, I just pull them. I smile with my eyes- and there lies the beauty of a smile; not the pulling of the lips or whichever way. With every time the lips are formed into a smile\, your eyes must sparkle with the radiance. Then only is it a smile.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nlink to entire satsang\n\n\nHOW TO JOIN ONLINE\nWe use the online conference program called Zoom. If you don’t have it\, it’s easy to use and free.  Go to: https://zoom.us/download  and download the option: “Zoom Client for meetings Version 3.5.53922.0620” (or newer version)\n\n\nThen open your Zoom application and enter your passwords and click on “join a meeting” and type the   \nMeeting ID:  152-161-228\n\n\n\nWe will start the Zoom sessions 10 minutes before the start time so you can log on and be ready to go.\n\n\nOther tips:\n\nYou should come in muted as to not disturb the meeting. If not please click on the microphone icon on the bottom left to mute your mic. When muted it will have a red line through it. (Especially important if you join before the Host does.)\nTo speak\, just click on the mic icon again to activate your mic.\nIf you prefer to not be seen\, you can also click the video icon next to the mic icon on the bottom and disable your camera.\nTo ensure optimum sound\, close all other programs and internet on your computer once you’re in Zoom.  Double check that your computer’s volume register is turned all the way up (for most computers)\, and same with the volume on the zoom screen.\nIf your internet connection is weak or variable and you can hook up to the router directly with an Ethernet cable; that would give you the best possible signal.\nHeadphones tend to provide better sound also and we get less feedback so if you have them please use them.\nWe can only have 25 logins at once and after that is reached you will be notified that the meeting is full.

SUMMARY:Online Satsang with Jeffrey Carr
DESCRIPTION:Jeffrey Carr\, Senior AMS Teacher\n\nSatsang & Reading from US 80-17:\n\nGururaj Ananda Yogi\n\nThe Inner and Outer Guru\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMonday\, August 19th\, 2019\n\n8 – 9 pm East Coast Time\n7 – 8 pm Midwest Time\n5 – 6 pm West Coast Time\n\n\nZOOM MEETING ID: 705-079-634\n \n\n\n\nExcerpt from the Inner and Outer Guru; the Mark of the True Teacher\n\nGururaj Ananda Yogi:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne must always listen to the inner guru. But how many have found this inner guru? The inner guru can only be found if that total stillness is found within\, through meditation and spiritual practices.  Then only can that voice of silence be heard.  Otherwise it might just be your imagination running amuck. It could be thought processes that are coming through your mind\, which have been previously conditioned.  This is the surest way of being deluded and of being involved in illusions.  So\, only when we have found the inner guru\, perhaps not even through total integration\, do we have the right to say that we listen to the inner guru.\n \nThe ability to listen to the inner guru\, to the spirit within yourself\, is ability given to very few people.  It is something that has to be strived for.  It is something by which the patterned mind\, that sends forth thoughts through the conscious mind\, is listened to.  If anyone here can tell me that every decision they have made has always been a right decision\, a goodly decision\, a godly decision\, in any matter whatsoever\, then he might have had some glimpse of the inner guru.  But that is not (usually) the case.\n \nMany times\, people speak about the voice of conscience.  What (is) conscience?  What do we know about conscience?  We only (have knowledge) of the experiences that are stored in our memory box\, opposing experiences\, and from that\, through an analytical process\, we come to the conclusion that my conscience tells me this (or that).  So\, (conscience) is the product of your own personal mental experience. Now this is not totally wrong\, because you might have had a good experience at some time and a bad experience (another time)\, (which are) the opposites in the world of polarities. Therefore\, your mind is conditioned by the thoughts of the good experience\, and so your conscience will do right. Your conscience will dictate to you what is right and what is wrong\, based upon the experiences that you have had. This is fine\, but how many people have that discriminating ability?  How many people can say that their good deeds\, (committed) over these thousands of lifetimes\, have been mostly good deeds\, and (that their) bad deeds were very few\, so that they therefore are equipped to decide\, answer and solve the problem that is at hand?\n \nSo\, when the inner guru is awakened\, you do not need the outer guru.  It is because we need the outer guru that we get assembled here\, for example.  We need to be told\, we need to be taught\, and we need to be guided\, and the guidance or the teachings we take are dependent upon the awareness we have developed.  In the full realization of the inner guru\, you have the awareness to be able to see not only as far as the wall\, but behind the wall as well.   This (awareness) does not come from an analytical process\, but it comes from an intuitive level\, (and from) a level that is even beyond intuition; (it comes) from the realm of the spirit\, which is the inner guru.  And in that awareness\, you’ll have no more questions\, for all is realized\, and questions cease.  The very act of a question is the act of search\, and when you have found\, you do not need to seek anymore.\n \nWe seek because we are not functioning in totality.  We seek because we (do not have) the total awareness.  We first seek and inquire to gain mental knowledge\, and we then use that to dive deep within ourselves.  The seed has been planted\, and then we go beyond the analytical aspect of ourselves to reach that area\, that dimension\, where our own awareness gives us all the answers.  That is the surface value of awareness.  In the deeper level of awareness\, there are no questions and no answers.  You just know.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nlink to entire satsang\n\n\nHOW TO JOIN ONLINE\nWe use the online conference program called Zoom. If you don’t have it\, it’s easy to use and free.  Go to: https://zoom.us/download  and download the option: “Zoom Client for meetings Version 3.5.53922.0620” (or newer version)\n\n\nThen open your Zoom application and enter your passwords and click on “join a meeting” and type the   \nMeeting ID:  705-079-634\n\n\n\nWe will start the Zoom sessions 10 minutes before the start time so you can log on and be ready to go.\n\n\nOther tips:\n\nYou should come in muted as to not disturb the meeting. SUMMARY:New York Spring Retreat 2019
DESCRIPTION:Embracing Change—The Key to Freedom \nWe are living in a state of flux and we are being tested…our reactions to inner and outer circumstances matter. The way we perceive change–welcome it and dance with it–willmaterialize physically. We know that resisting change is futile; it leaves us battered and broken. But embracing change\, being fluid\, can open our observant\, curious and loving hearts. \n“Common sense would tell us that we should evaluate relative existence\, with all its changes\, and try to see how beneficial change is to us.  We can still live in the changes\, and change the changes; that is the secret of life.  What do we change?  We change that which is forever changing into changelessness\, wherein stability could be found. \nThe fear of facing the future\, or turning away from that with which we are so familiar\, is a sure sign of instability.  It is a sure sign of a lack of faith\, it is a sure sign in the disbelief of Divinity. \nWhat prevents us from wanting to change?  What prevents us from remaining in the suffering and yet inwardly we would like to get away from the suffering?  And yet we are so tied down\, bogged down\, because of what we have been conditioned by.” \n–Gururaj Ananda Yogi (Change\, UK78-8) \nFor the full retreat schedule\, click here \nSCHOLARSHIPS:  If financial circumstances are an obstacle\, students may apply for partial\, need-based scholarships.
